some emdot trivia. i'm 5'9" but will look you in the eye and tell you that i'm 5'10" just cuz i like fantasizing out loud.
my name rhymes with aria.
i have every vowel in my last name, except for the sometimes ones.
i like my coffee blonde. and for a long time i used the cliched-one liner that i liked my coffee like i like my men: bitter. ah hell. i still use that. it cracks me up.
i'm completely easily entertained by the same things over and over and over again.
i share siamese kittens with my dear friend and nextdoor neighbor, sweet dog k.
i was born in a mining town. i was baptised on tv when i was twelve by robert schuller. i sang you light up my life with debbie boon (okay, it was me and my choir of similarly dorky twelve year olds). at age thirteen i denouced all things dorky. at age 24 i undenounced.
my mom saved my social life by moving us out of orange county before i hit my teens. my high school was on the beach. literally for PE we ran to the rock and back.
when i was 34 i took my buddhist refuge vow. i'm not sure that i don't believe in god. i don't know. i don't know if it's important to know. as long as you appreciate.
i have stood on the roof of hearst castle during a blue moon on a christmas eve. i swam in the caribbean ocean at night during another.
i like e. e. cummings and david sedaris and carrie bradshaw and live oak music fest. i wish uncle tupelo was still together. nothing is better than a sunny sunday afternoon listening to a live band with friends at a park on a beach. nothing.
my current favorite wine is syrah.
my perfect life would include daily meditation, yoga, working out, writing, and humming a little tune. my perfect life would see me actually baking bread in the mornings and having some yummy steaming tasty soup going on the stove top. my perfect life would have my name be familiar by other like-minded public radio junkies. my perfect life would have me be a lot less serious about who i am. i love to talk in front of groups. i have a fatal weakness for crinkly eyes, crooked grins and strong forearms. i am still looking up to all those writers that wrote my favorite children's books.

about this site
started in summer 99. slow evolution. you know, typical typical. never had enough time to make it what i wanted blah blah blah. ;) insert whatever story you want. journal started summer 2000. blog took over spring 2002.
any spelling errors or grammatical trippings are a-okay with me. i kinda like things to be a little loose and imperfect here, just like real life. if you need perfection please bite your tongue, squeeze your eyes tight and sit on your hands until your mind moves on to another topic and you are off floating into another daydream.
if you stumble across an old page you'll probably see remnants of old parts of the site that i no longer update and that i'm too lazy or fond of to remove. upkeep can be a little informal around here.
my links, vault and slo town pages could do with some love and attention. maybe i will get there in the next coupla days. meanwhile, cut me some slack and check out the links that do work.
links you see on the side of the blog are mostly my friends. i like to peek in on them to see what they are up to. if nothing else check out bean, witold and loobylu. they are always worth a visit.

last october my mom and i packed up my car and headed east into the right-side of the arizona desert. we found ourselves amidst the saguaro and the ocatillos. it was one of the better vacations of my life... which is saying a lot because basically all of my vacations are pretty stellar. if you visit, be sure to click on the thumbnail images to see larger versions. and please excuse my spelling of the word chile. i pretty consistently spelled it with an i at the end. oh well.
» twenty-six things
a fun international online photographic scavenger hunt. my bounty features all-slo-all-the-time. it was pretty fun to do. maybe you'll see something you recognize.
